LaShunda Morris is an accomplished educator with a Doctorate in Curriculum Studies from Georgia Southern University, earned in December 2025. She brings over a decade of teaching experience across multiple school districts and arenas, where she has developed engaging lesson plans, collaborated with parents and administrators, and delivered impactful instruction. LaShunda also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Fort Valley State University, along with undergraduate degrees in Health Service Administration and Business Administration from Macon State College.
In addition to her teaching career, she has served as an advocate with organizations such as Crisis Line, Safe House, and the Salvation Army, providing critical support and maintaining detailed records. Her extensive skill set includes proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, data analysis using SPSS, office and event management, and strong pedagogical practices focused on student success. She currently serves as the Affiliate Director of the Georgia Association for the Education of Young Children, a state affiliate nonprofit organization, where she brings educational leadership and organizational management to the role. Her pivotal scholarly research explores how cultivating a Sense of Belonging serves as a vital retention tool for educators, offering new solutions to the current challenges facing the teacher workforce. An expert in topics such as Parental Power, Hegemony, and Empathy, Dr. Morris has presented at conferences and contributed significantly to the discourse on equity in education.
Beyond her role at GAEYC, she serves as the Chair of the Board for Cultivating You and has a long-standing history of community service, from domestic violence advocacy to mentoring first-generation college students. Her work is consistently defined by a commitment to social justice and the “Ethics of Care.”
