About Affinity Networks
Georgia Southern Affinity Networks are alumni groups centered around shared identities, interests, or professions, led by dedicated volunteers. These networks create targeted engagement opportunities and foster a strong sense of community.
Affinity Network Roles
- Chair – The lead volunteer within an affinity network and oversees sponsored activities while acting as a liaison between the Office of Alumni Relations and the network. Coordinate, promote, and attend network events and activities. (May designate someone to attend in their absence.) Required to meet with the Alumni Representative bi-monthly. Facilitate meetings of the coordinators in your area.
- Vice Chair – This position serves as Chair-elect and will assist and learn all positions for future leadership roles within a network’s area concentrating on chaptersing and social events.
- Eagle Outreach (Community Service) Chair – A volunteer within a network’s area concentrating on community outreach events and support including for Georgia Southern’s National Day of Service.
- Events Chair – Concentrates on social events like Eagles After Hours, Family Days, etc.
- Scholarship/Fundraising Chair – Works to develop avenues and events for fundraising events in support of student scholarships.
- Student Engagement Chair – Works to connect alumni with students and the Student Alumni Association, as well as assists with recruitment efforts coordinated by the Office of Admissions.
*It is expected for all events to have a designated host representing the Affinity Network.
General Requirements for an Active Alumni Affinity Network
- Chapter Leadership (Chair & Vice Chair minimum)
- Annual Plan of Events (minimum one per quarter)
- Representation at Annual Leadership Summit (required)
- Annual Georgia Southern Giving Day Donation by Affinity Network Chairs and Committee Members (required)
