Q: What is your career and how did Georgia Southern University help you to prepare you for it?
A: My career is actually in entrepreneurship. Ironically, I attended Georgia Southern with a major in Health Science/Community Health and Exercise Science/Kinesiology. While I did not earn the opportunity to work in my dream field, Georgia Southern prepared me to work in the field of entrepreneurship. Georgia Southern enhanced my skill sets as a leader and problem solver. I was very active on campus and I switched gears to be active in the community.
Q: What was your favorite part about being a Georgia Southern student and how has that impacted your engagement with the University through the Alumni Association?
A: My favorite part was student engagement. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Georgia Southern and the impact my professors and area of study had on my current success.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a part of Georgia Southern’s Alumni Association?
A: It means an opportunity to aid in the increase of enrollment, increase in donors or giving, and increase in cultural awareness. My role is significant in that I provide real life prospective to the incoming students and the outgoing engagement of the alumni.
Q: What made you want to join Georgia Southern’s Alumni Board?
A: I am GSU Blue and True. I am excited and honored to share my experiences with other alum as well as increase enrollment for additional alum.
Q: How do you hope to grow the University during your term as a board member?
A: I hope to grow the university in enrollment through the discussion of our many award-winning programs. I intend to grow the university through civic engagement of our culture and climate of oneness and inclusion. I also intend to grow the university through donors and giving by leading as an example in various realms of philanthropy.
Q: How can alumni get involved with the Alumni Association and why would you encourage them to do so?
A: There are several ways to get involved. I myself volunteer to serve as a buffer. However, alum can follow www.georgiasouthern.edu/alumni for the latest and updates on ways to become involved. Alumni can share their experiences through our alumni social media in hopes of attracting more alumni to become engaged with their time, talent, and treasure.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to add about the Alumni Association, your time as a Georgia Southern student, or the benefits to participating in alumni activities?
A: The Alumni Association is an awesome opportunity to engage with fellow alumni while aiding in the support of growing students and future alum.
