James Hammond (’06) is the President-Elect of the Georgia Southern University Alumni Association and the Managing Partner of Ikon Filmworks LLC, a leading Metro Atlanta creative agency celebrating 20 years in business. A 2016 Georgia Southern “40 Under 40” alumnus, James has served Eagle Nation for over a decade, previously holding roles as Alumni Board Secretary, a member of the Young Alumni Board, and a current member of the Multimedia Film Production and Journalism Advisory Board. He holds a degree in Broadcast Administration and Production and spent his college years as a videographer for the Eagle football team. Professionally, he specializes in media production, AV consulting, and strategic storytelling, notably guiding numerous businesses and municipalities through critical communication shifts during the pandemic.

A highly decorated civic leader, James is a Former President of Outstanding Atlanta and an alumnus of LEAD Atlanta, Leadership Buckhead, the ARC Regional Leadership Institute, Georgia Forward Young Game Changers, and Emerging Leaders of DeKalb. He is a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Eta Lambda Chapter), and a recipient of both the Augustus Witherspoon Leadership Award and the Junior League of Atlanta’s Spirit of the League Award. Deeply committed to community empowerment, James has dedicated years of service to Warrick Dunn Charities, The Scholarships Academy, and the Fulton County Elections Board as a poll manager.
