“As the daughter of Jamaican parents, I was raised to believe that whatever is meant for me will be mine.”
Alumna Alysa Clarke (’26) left the comfort of her home to pursue a degree in biochemistry on the pre-med track at Georgia Southern. While earning her degree, Alysa became a research assistant for cancer therapeutics and drug synthesis, presented research at multiple science conferences and became a published scientific co-author.
Alysa says if there is one thing Georgia Southern really gave her, it was a heart for people. Under her leadership of the National Society of Black Women in Medicine, the organization earned Student Organization of the Year. Alysa also served on Student Government Association and volunteered abroad in Costa Rica.
