Developing a new vulnerability assessment tool and asset ranking methodology
My most significant career accomplishment occurred during my tenure at the Department of Homeland Security/Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (DHS/CISA), where I developed a new vulnerability assessment tool and asset ranking methodology. After securing senior leadership approval, I managed an eight-state regional pilot that transformed complex criticality data into navigable reports and interactive visualizations. This initiative is a major shift for CISA, moving the agency towards operational self-sufficiency.
Managing the Non-Profit Security Grant Program, providing critical resources to communities
During my tenure at the state’s emergency management and homeland security agency, I managed the Non-Profit Security Grant Program, which funds physical security upgrades for organizations—primarily houses of worship. By expanding organizational outreach and technical assistance, I achieved a 71% year-over-year increase in award success and oversaw the strategic distribution of $1.6 million in federal funds. This work was significant because it provided critical resources to communities that otherwise could not have afforded such enhancements. I am particularly proud of this achievement, as it not only improved the safety of these institutions but also safeguarded one of our most fundamental rights: the ability to peacefully gather and worship.
Serving the City of Hapeville as a police officer
Lastly, I am most proud of my service as a police officer for the City of Hapeville. During my tenure, I had hundreds of encounters with citizens from all walks of life. While a small number of those individuals required law enforcement intervention or detention, the vast majority were simply good people having a difficult day or making a poor decision. It was in these everyday interactions that I witnessed the best in people. I saw fellow officers pay for meals for the homeless, offer to put a newly evicted single mother in a hotel for a few nights, and purchase bike helmets for local children. I am extremely proud of the impact we made—not only in reducing crime but in the lives of everyday citizens—while working alongside such dedicated professionals.
