When Tyler Brackett (’21) joined Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), the fact that the site was close to home was certainly appealing. However, the bigger draw was the chance to be part of something historic for Georgia.
“This isn’t just another workplace — it’s a start-up that’s groundbreaking for our region,” Brackett said. “I wanted to be here from the beginning and help shape what HMGMA will become for our community and for the future of electric vehicles.”
Brackett serves as a team leader in the general assembly, supporting training and leadership development across the $7.6 billion facility. The role has pushed him to grow in ways he never expected. His favorite part of the job is the sense of purpose that comes with it.
“HMGMA makes me feel valued,” he explained. “I’m not just doing a job; I’m building a career. Every day I have the chance to grow my leadership skills, step into new responsibilities, and know that what I do matters.”
One of his most impactful experiences was traveling to South Korea for on-the-ground training with Hyundai leaders. Brackett describes it as a turning point in his professional journey.
“Being immersed in the culture and seeing firsthand how Hyundai operates globally gave me a whole new perspective,” he said. “It reinforced that I’m part of something much bigger than myself.”
That confidence and perspective were built on the foundation Brackett gained at Georgia Southern University where he majored in health sciences. He credits his time there with giving him the professional and communication skills he uses every day.
“Writing and presenting were big parts of my coursework,” Brackett said. “Those skills translate directly into how I train employees, communicate with leadership and make sure everyone is on the same page here at HMGMA.”
Looking ahead, Brackett sees nothing but opportunity.
“This plant represents growth — not just for Hyundai or Georgia, but for each of us who work here,” he said. “I know I’m building more than a career. I’m helping build the future.”
