Demetrius D. Smith, Ed.D, began working in Enrollment Management in the Office of the Registrar at Middle Georgia College, now known as Middle Georgia State University. After five years in that role, Smith accepted a position working in Housing and Residence Life at the same institution. During this time, he developed the Greek Life Office by chartering fraternity and sorority life at Middle Georgia State.
After two years doing this work, Smith accepted a role at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire to serve as the inaugural Program Director for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. He served in this role for two years before being promoted to the inaugural position of Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
After a year and a half, Smith accepted the position of Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Georgia where he currently serves and oversees the Pride Center, International Student Life, and Multicultural Services and Programs. Smith also provides strategic vision and leadership for the Inclusive Excellence Plan for the division.
