Mission Statement:

To raise friends for Georgia Southern University and to connect and reconnect Georgia Southern Alumni through education and communication in order to generate support for higher education.

Purpose:

The Georgia Southern University Alumni Association has existed since 1933 to serve Georgia Southern University and its Alumni. Our purposes according to our By-Laws are:

  • to promote the growth, progress and welfare of Georgia Southern University;
    Membership Program:

    The GSU Alumni Association will be urging all Alumni who are not presently members, to become members of the Georgia Southern Alumni Association as a part of its membership program. Alumni membership dues enables the association to fund Homecoming and Alumni Weekend activities, Alumni scholarship golf tournaments and Alumni publications.

    "In the past, we have not aggressively pursued Alumni to become members of the association. We have depended on renewals and word of mouth to secure new members. However, in order to have the kind of Alumni Association that we would like, and expand our programs, we need the support of our Alumni," said Frank Hook, Alumni Director.

    Alumni Association Annual Dues:

    • New Graduates --$20
    • Single Membership -- $35
    • Joint Membership -- $50
    • Life Membership -- $300
    • Joint Life Membership -- $500

    • Library and computer lab privileges (excluding GALILEO password)
    • Weekend use of indoor CRI facilities while visiting campus (some restrictions apply)

    • Selected restaurant discounts
    • Subscription to the Georgia Southern Magazine

     

  • to foster mutually beneficial relationships between the University and its Alumni;
  • to foster and encourage improved educational enterprises, programs, and services to Georgia Southern University;
  • to enhance the general welfare of Georgia Southern University through the formation, implementation and management of development programs; and
  • to solicit and encourage Alumni and friends of Georgia Southern University to make gifts, devises, bequests, and contributions of whatsoever nature to the Georgia Southern University Foundation, Georgia Southern University, and/or the Georgia Southern University Alumni Association to perpetuate the traditions, purposes, growth and progress of Georgia Southern University.

The Alumni Association pursues these goals in a cost-effective manner through the Office of Alumni Relations.
